Number Five: The Other Guys.
Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg play two cops in New York City, both with troubled pasts, that are over shadowed by the hot shots, played by Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne Johnson, until their chance finally comes up to prove to the world what they are really made of. Overall this movie was not that funny and I really did not like either of Will Ferrell's or Mark Wahlberg's characters. But the reason that this is my number five pick is because this movie has funny concepts, such as hot women are attracted to Will Ferrell's character and he cares nothing for them or that Mark Wehlberg's characters learns things just so he can make fun of people. All in all in has funny parts and it grows on you overtime but in general its not one of his best.
Number Four: Night at the Roxbury.
One of Will Ferrell's first big roles and the one that I believe really put him on the map, Night at the Roxbury. Playing opposite of Chris Kattan this SNL movie really showed audiencea just how funny dumb could be. Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan play the Butabi Brothers, Steve and Doug, who live in their parents' guest house and do nothing but go out and club and they have dreams of one day owning the hottest night club in the world. This is just a really funny movie because of characters, story lines, and little jokes, like the Club Owner always thinking that someone is grabbing his ass. This movie is without a doubt one of the funniest SNL movies, and a true Will Ferrell classic.
Number Three: Talladega Nights.
Introducing my generation's funniest comedy teams, Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly play NASCAR racing teammates who have been best friends for years. Will Ferrell's character, Ricky Bobby, has the need to be either first or last, because of his daddy issues. He loses everything when he crashing his car racing the next big thing from France, played by Sacha Baron Cohen. He must try to win everything back in the big race at Talladega. From beginning to end this movie has non stop comedy. Five minutes does not go by without you laughing. Everything is funny, the concept, the story, characters, everything is great.
Number Two: Step Brothers.
What's better than Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly racing for NASCAR? No NASCAR. And that's what you get with Step Brothers. It's brings all of the funniness of Talladega Nights and adds more comedy right on top. Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly play forty year old step brothers who still live at home with their parents and never want to grow up. It has the the same level of comedy as Talladega Night but is more character based which makes it even funnier.
Number One: Anchorman.
Of course, Anchorman is the funnest Will Ferrell movie ever. You take one of the funnest characters Will Ferrell has ever done, add a great supporting cast, put it in the sixties, and have Adam Mckay direct it and you got yourself and comedy masterpiece. Non stop laughter mix in with a heart warming story, Anchorman will go down in history as his greatest movie ever.
I've watched all of these and I just can't get enough of Will Ferrel. Among all the characters he portrayed, my favorites are Ron Burgundy and Ricky Bobby. I have loads of laughs everytime I watch Anchorman and Talladega Nights. As a NASCAR racer, he always wants to be the champion. And I love his line: "If you ain't first, you're last." Hahaha!
